Pondering with a Purpose~Love thyself

Pondering with a Purpose - Love thyself?

Photobucket
Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!
I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt: Love thyself
Do you love yourself?

To love ones self is probably a double edge sword for some. To often from the outside it looks as if one is vain or so into themselves they only think of themselves, but do not mix that up with being self-centered or selfish. When we spend money on ourselves because we deserve it or it makes us feel better about ourselves somehow is that because we love ourselves and deserving of a little treat in the way of a new handbag or shoes? No!!!  Many people get this concept confused... to love thyself in my opinion,  is to care enough about ourselves that we feel and give love openly. We care for ourselves not in material ways but in emotional ways.
as a child of severe abuse, bounced around in foster care in my teens.  I had a hard time with self love for ME. I know what rejection feels like in the worst way but for me to reject myself would be even worst.
I do have love for myself an over abundance of it because somebody has to love me.....if not me then who??
            LOVE THYSELF.

More than a Pet Peeve =ANGER

We thought because we have been letting Dollie sleep inside due to the freezing temperatures that it gave the raccoons a free pass to mess in the trash. Our cat had got into a very scuffs that were only heard not seen. But Sunday I was watching out the window and seen our cat stalking something across the yard, i watched the back end of an unknown cat quickly dart into the garden shed at the same time our cat scrambled into it also. We were very impressed with our cats territorial protection until we went looking for the other warrior and found this kitty up in the rafters of the wood shed. She is not very old and our cat immediately quit chasing her because she obviously knew it as well. The kitty starting meowing at us and was not feral, she braved our dogs to get close to us, she wanted to be petted and cuddled up and she was STARVING!! She had been dumped!! I hate yes I know we are not suppose to hate but I hate people that think that it is ok to dump an animal. It has been in the teens and even if there was mice or whatever for this lil kitty to hunt and eat there is much bigger animals that would gladly make her part of their food change. We thought after the 1st day that either our cat or the dogs would run her off to where she belonged but it didn't happen she braved both to try and warm up with us and we had to do the right thing and feed her (yes I know once you feed them they aren't leaving). Two days later she is growing on us and so so sweet, she knows how to stay away from the dogs by getting on the roof and our cat knows she is young so she has quit fighting with her and even let me bring her into the house and on my bed but I know we can not keep her or let her suffer in the elements of winter and my husband is convinced she is possibly pregnant. We called neighbors no one is claiming her.  If you can not keep your pets then do the right thing and take them to the SPCA give them a fighting chance. We have always spayed and neutered our pets as soon as they can be fixed. And I donate to the humane society monthly so this really makes me ANGRY when people abandon poor lil aniamls. THINK people animals need us to be responsible and they do have feelings. We are still not sure if we will keep her but we will do the right thing.
The poor lil dumped kitty

she was so happy to have him hold her, look at that sweet face

second nights meal she would take a mouth full of food and then
scoot off dropping half of it like in litters of starved
animals it was very sad.

She is slowly stealing my heart, I am such a cat lover.

Jill loves her but does not want to share her room.
Can any of my bloggy friends who have cats give me some hints on how to acclimate the 2 cats?? I do not want to run off my 3 year old cat who's home this is and I am struggling with taking new kitty to the SPCA. But I am not sure we can keep both.  I know new kitty will hold her own with the dogs she has proven that but last night we kept our cat in all day & night so she wouldn't hurt new kitty and then there is the expense of getting her fixed and shots to just run off??? What to do what to do erghhhh I hate that she was dumped.

One of the Truest Test

I have had several of ........ what the heck is going on with life these last few weeks. from hospital stays, to heartbreak, to wrecking my car and now the overwhelming scare of driving down the hill to work or up the hill home. We are super busy at work so it isn't the best time to miss to much of it.  I have driven my hubs C R A Z Y with my what if's?? my over thinking?? my anxiety, and my tears!!! BUT even with my less than nice voice and my excuses... he has been there a 100%. He has drove me to work which is 35 minutes one way and then came back down and picked me up,  some days when I have appts he has to make that hour round trip drive 3x's in a day.  I have attempted getting back on the road, I drove the rental car a few days but then we had a little bit of snow come thru, nothing major at all few silly inches......it is the freeze that has me freaked out and the rental car isn't a familiar car for me so I am not showing any confidence to try and drive it in freezing conditions. Today and tomorrow the hubs is on driving duties again and even though he isn't happy about it that I get all worked up and think it is making him mad, he really isn't,  he is just frustrated that I tell him he's mad when he's not!!  I am just afraid it is putting him out and I feel bad for making him do it.... he would do anything in the world for me I know this with all my heart. It is the small things when shown that mean the most and his understanding with me even if it did make him angry I know he still would do them which to me is the truest test of love for sure.

Chats on the Porch 75

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 75

Everyday Ruralty

QUESTIONS
  1. What's your favorite thing to have in hot cocoa/ hot chocolate?
  2. Did you have a white Christmas? Have you had snow since then?
  3. Have you been looking over seed catalogs? If this doesn't apply, what kind of catalogs do you like to leaf through?
  4. Gas stove or electric?
  5. What's new or interesting?
                 ANSWERS:
1. whipping cream or dip a cookie but I don't really care for the marshmellow thingy.
2. We had some snow late in the day but it didn't stick around thru the night and we have had only icy nights sense no white stuff. I would rather have the white then the ice.
3. Not seeds, I had a huge catalog addiction when we first moved (3 yrs, ago) it was so nice to order thru the catalogs no lines, no rude people, & it allowed me to circle items and go back & forth about purchasing things and then get a grip and say I CAN live without that item so No order. Flipping thru catalogs was my de-stress wish list thing for the new house but I bought very little so it was a weird addiction. I would get anywhere between 12-15 catalogs in the mail a day when I 1st quit buying completely from them now it is 5-7.
I give the least liked one to Dollie to chew while I thumb thru the better ones, she doesn't eat the paper she just thinks she is helping me with not ordering LOL.
4. We have electric now.
5. hmmmm toughie.......oh I got the rental car today while mine is in the shop being fix from my wreck... it is new.
HEAD OVER TO PATRICE'S PORCH AND CHECK OUT HER SWEET BABY PIGLETS AND DO SOME CHATTING WITH US ALL. OH AND DON'T FORGET TO BRING WENDELL A CARROT. THANKS PATRICE FOR HOSTING ;]

3. the room we call the office, it is off the kitchen, it was an add on sun porch but enclosed so I put my desk (which I can't get to because of all the things put in front of it) out there and then the extra fridge that we do not use or have plugged in, extra folding chairs, Christmas decorations, vacuum, crafts supplies, & the dog crate oh & the recyclables. Pondering with a Purpose~Time

Pondering with a Purpose - Time flies

Photobucket
Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is Brenda's weekly hop where she posts a prompt and you get to write to it on your - come back here and add it to her linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!
She started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- Sh's a writer - - that is what she does ! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge
Have fun!

This Week's prompt: time

Do you seem to think that time is flying by? Obviously when we are the middle of a crisis or a tough situation it seems to be creeping and crawling.... that's not what I'm talking about... I'm talking about time as a whole...
I am one of the worst when it comes to time. I was always late, always setting the time ahead 10 minutes to help me get better
but I knew the clock was 10 minutes a head and I still accounted
that extra time in and arrived late.
My life changed when I got the business I had to be an example
and I had many people depending on my time, all of a sudden, it
caused great stress, but I did get better about managing time and
 being on time.
Time is once again knocking on my door making me want to just
take the batteries out to stop it from clicking away. Where does the time go? why does it have to sneak up on me so suddenly? How did
I lose it?
When my husband worked construction he constantly said no to people asking favors, I was confused....why would you say no to so-so who asked you to help him with something? Hubs would say flatly my time isn't free, i have a family and they need me on my time off  not a bunch of young guys sitting around a side job drinking beer expecting me, the old dude, to show them how to do it while they watched....simple they couldn't afford what I charge for my time if it takes me away from my family. Now a bon-a-fide favor totally different.
Time is chasing me around the house on a regular bases, sometimes with my pants down sometimes with them up but I feel the pressure of time running out for me daily and I want to scrunch and scramble to do so many things in quickly so I am on a time roller coaster that I am not sure how long I will be riding but as I am I know I have lots of you riding it with me so I am not afraid.

Sunshine Project

I love me this project I have missed it and so many of my other favorite hops or memes and especially the writing prompts from Brenda & Josie so even though I am feeling ???? I am going to try and make myself felt in the land of blog this week....so enjoy a dance with my favorite guy here

Book Report Project = A+

This is the actual book

This is her finished project
This class assignment was a big thing for our girl her other school hadn't had any projects of this
caliber. The assignment was to take a book you read and either do a page from it or the cover picture. You had to use at least 5 different textured materials, it could not be  construction paper, it had to be big enough to be seen across the room and your class mates critiqued it as well. Jill used a poster board to start, she drew the girl out of stock paper and glue her on to some colored stock paper, her characters hair was braided yarn (1), the shirt was silk material she had to cut out then glue onto the cut out (2) she had glass beds for the eye balls (3) she is holding an actual crayon (4) all the doodles on the sides were different crafty things she found to glue on to look like the doodles from the book (5,6,7,10) the yellow man face was a cut out piece of cardboard (11) then painted yellow (12) and painted with puffy paint the facials (13) oh and her eye lashes were glued on pieces of leather, the color behind the title is crayon and the the outline of her shirt and face is sharpie. She did well over the requirements and I have to be 100% honest.... this project was given a 2 week deadline, she worked on it nightly and turned it in 3 days before the due date with no help from us this was all her drawing things out, gathering supplies, laying it out, working on sizing and got a well deserved A+. They also had to describe the book in a presentation and answer class questions. Bravo Jillian Bravo!!!

Chats on the Porch 1st for 2013

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch- The First One For 2013

Everyday Ruralty
Happy New Year!

Welcome to Patrice's farmhouse. Here is some conversation from Patrice letting us know what is going on on her porch this week she says  "We'll have to chat inside today. It's very cold and the wind has been fierce. Wendell's hair looks as though he's gotten carried away with mousse. We have five baby pigs, and some lambs on the way. We are making plans for the upcoming year on the farm."

I want to thank everyone who reads this blog. I value your visits and your comments. Interacting with super people makes blogging such a fun thing. I had no idea how much I'd enjoy having a blog, until I took the plunge. Thanks for making it so enjoyable.
This week's questions:
  1. Do you make New Years resolutions?
  2. What do you hope to accomplish this year?
  3. Tell me about your favorite place to think, create, or just relax.
  4. Are you a fan of old movies? (Like the ones that were originally black and white.)
  5. Tell me something that made you happy since our last porch visit. If you're new to the chats, tell me something good that has happened to you lately.
My answers:
1. No not really I tell myself at the beginning of the year I want to work less and take my health serious, I want to try and get closer to God and walk in His light and I do accomplish that one but I get over done with Dr. stuff. This year I have made myself a GOAL...to travel & visit family at least once before the big surgery, I have 3 plane tickets saved for me for different destinations the family is on their own if they plan on going LOL please don't think I am mean or selfish I am far from that I just am limited on my travel times they are not.
2. Reconnecting with family (siblings & their children) I want to leave a footprint in their lives of me. from their own opinion and experiences not by what they were told to believe about me and my life.
3. Favorite place to think is in the car quietly in the am no radio, create would be in my craft basket, and relax is either soaking in my hot tub or in one of the oversized rockers on the deck.
4. Love old movies even black & white ones. These two funny men I actually staked a claim in with the MIL to get which of course made the BIL hate me even more and say I stole them but she did give them to me they are in great condition have never been broken or glued and stand as you can see almost as big as my couch. I have some other old movie stuff but not as cute as these guys or as easy to get a pic of (shhh they are still in boxes we haven't unpacked)

5. i have missed a few porch visits so not sure where to go with this question. I missed them because I was hospitalized. B U T......the love, support, e-mails, and my hubs caring to let the land of blog know I was gone moved me deeply. I love you all so much!!! Thank you for being there to text & e-mail me no matter the time. The first year of blogging was lonely but once I ventured into my 1st hop BLAM, I fell hard for the strong committed community of support and haven't or wouldn't look back for nothing. And Dear Patrice you and Wendell make a person want to visit and post thank you for being a HUGE part in my happiness during 2012 and looking forward to better in 2013. ~Janice~
