  1. When the children were young we had a New Year's Eve party at the house. Often we would find one babysitter for all of the kids and they would have their own sleep over. Christmas is for the children and New year's is for the adults.

  3. When the kids were young, we would buy lots of snack food, some sparkling grape juice and the three of us would ring the new year in together.

  4. The kids can stay up if they want to... but will probably go to bed ... even Wayne doesn't do a lot about new years

  5. I don't think we celebrated New Year's as a family. If we did, I don't remember it! With our kids, we went to friends and played games. Tried not to head home at 12:01. Had to stay a little longer to be polite but sooo tired!

  6. I think I might try to stay awake for the new year...unless the world ends this week!!

  7. We ALWAYS had New Year's Eve because the EX always had Christmas... so I made sure we had friends over for a sleep over (when they were littler) and then when they got older we had a party for their friends.... never really anything for me... it was always about them!

  8. I would let my younger kids nap during the day or early evening, then let them be awake for midnight. My youngest son slept through New Years this year, and he was so upset he cried! I'll make sure that doesn't happen again.

  10. When the kids were little we would have friends over or go to a friend's home who also had little ones and we'd have snacks n' sparkling grape juice, play games and then watch the ball drop. Then as the kids got older and went to their own New Year's parties and outings, we would have our night on the town and now that the kids are much older it's all about MiMi watching grand babies and this is my most favorite way to ring in the new year! :)

  12. I have no children but I also can't remember doing anything as a child to celebrate the new year either. As a teenager I would go to my best friends house and celebrate with her family.

  13. I don't usually do Q&As on my blog, so can I just be a rebel and answer here? I'm all about cookies and I'm tired of Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree. (Shhhh...don't say anything about the fact that I always sing along.) We never do anything on NYE except stay in and drink wine (just the two of us). No kids, so can't answer that one. And I linked to a few of my favourite recent links today.

  14. I'm serving pinwheels at a Christmas luncheon on Saturday. :D New Year's Eve is the one night of the year we stay home because all of the crazies are out in full force on that night. We live in a neighborhood that's kid heaven, so the neighborhood has fireworks and s'mores for the kids until 10:00. They toast the new year with ginger ale, and then we send them in to bed. Then the adults usually stay out in the cul-de-sac and ring in the new year with adult beverages and/or coffee drinks.

  16. you can certainly find me around the pumperknickel bread and spinach dip. And if someone knows how to make a decent hot crab dip: I'm moving in.
I don't think there is any Christmas song I am sick of yet -- but ask me again next week and I am sure I will have a few.
Hubby and I are celebrating both Christmas and New Years' on that night because he has to work all Christmas.
Best blog post I read this week? That's easy....your "I am A Christian" one. :)
#5 Since we have 3 young children, they don't stay up until midnight -- we can barely make it to 12!! ha. I buy some white grape juice or sparkling cider, some noise-makers, those Christmas cracker things, and we do a count-down based upon about Greenwich Mean time. That way they get a little celebration and then off to bed. Then Left Brain and I get our time....which I won't be detailing here ;)
